London College of Fashion Orientation

Beauty.

History.

Cutting Edge.

Daring.

Colorful.

Stylish.

Just a few words I’d use to describe what I saw today on my third day in the city. Beautiful people, beautiful clothes, beautiful hair and beautiful inspiration.

This morning I slept in a bit—8.46 to be exact. I was too excited to sleep. Today was my London College of Fashion orientation. Nervous as ever, I got up, took my shower and got ready. How do you prep for the most stylish schools in the world? The best of the best leave this school, and picking out an ensemble to even attempt the brilliance of these artists is nearly impossible. So, I stuck with the reliable: black on black on black.

Oh, and I found out I got my internship placement. The day couldn’t have started any better.

We walked from Store Street along all kinds of bitty streets here and there. Then we arrived to one of the most gorgeous (and dangerous) streets: Oxford Street. In case you don’t know, Oxford Street is home to some of the best shopping in London, which is clearly dangerous. The sky was dotted with the Christmas light “orbs”, which would be absolutely gorgeous to see lit up. But there wasn’t much time to enjoy the surroundings because we were running late.

As soon as I entered the university, I knew I wasn’t in Iowa anymore. People with gorgeously dyed hair (yes, cool colours are my favourite), eclectic styles and photo shoot ready makeup appeared to be the majority. I have a weakness for bleached and coloured hair. This is my inspo. (Should I get my hair done like this? Desperate to know what you all think!) We went from classroom to classroom, learning bits about all the different tips and tricks we’d need to know.

I am officially signed up for Styling and Fashion History, Art & Artefact. Styling was my number one course to get into, and I am thrilled to say I got in because it fills up quickly. For my fashion history course, I will be going to an exhibit each week, so the inspiration will be everywhere.

We had drinks and a reception afterwards in a building a half hour walk away. I don’t think I’ve walked this much in a long time. Who needs a gym when you can speed walk down the streets and dodge cars all at the same time?

I finally made it back to my living quarters around 6.00, and I am exhausted. I had an incredible day, but I do think some shopping will need to be done… to fit in, of course.

I’ve only been here three days, but I’ve already fallen in love. I’ve seen things and been places that I’ve only dreamed of. Saying that I’m studying at the London College of Fashion is something that I never thought I’d have the chance to say, but I’m yelling it loud now. This is happiness. I’m in a city I love, finding the things I love, and I can’t wait to see what the next weeks and months have in store. I’m planning to start daily vlogging tomorrow, and maybe I’ll do some OOTD posts too. Until next time,
