BTS Updates & Ideas

Hello everyone, I’m back! I’ve been gone for a bit because of my crazy summer job, so my sleep schedule switched again. I worked days instead of nights (such a blessing for school), but it was still quite the adjustment after working a night shift. Never. Want. To. Go. Back. To. That.

On a different, more exciting, note, I moved back into college on Friday, and just got moved in to start my sophomore year. This semester will be crazy, exciting, stressful and full of planning. I’m trying to catch up with everyone I’ve missed the past few months before starting classes tomorrow already. Moving back to the bigger city is one of the most exciting parts of it all, as my summer was quite bland. Actually, I can say it: summer was very, very boring. I have concerts, namely One Direction in Chicago next weekend (be prepared for an ultimate fangirl post—I can’t help it), little here and there favorites and plenty of other lifestyle and fashion updates. London will be coming in the spring, but that’s a whole different story.

My roommate and I are trying to get sorted, and, fingers crossed, will be starting a YouTube channel soon as well. Hopefully you will get a whole new look into my life and style while at college.

No photos for todays post as we are just getting settled in, but would you enjoy a dorm room post? Maybe a class update? A tour around my campus? Let me think of something creative, and I’m hoping to give this blog a fresh new start. I have been very on and off here, so I would love to give you a more full look at my life and post at least once per week this semester. Challenging, yes. But I’m trying my best during these crazy times I would like to call being 19. Thanks for reading, and I look forward to seeing you here again soon. For any more updates, be sure to follow me on Twitter and Instagram.

Be ready for the year ahead. I know I’m sure ready for it.

Back to School Beauty Routine

Hello lovelies!

As my time here at college progresses, I have since realized the importance of getting ready quickly. When you are up late studying, you don’t have time to worry about looking perfect for class. However, I do understand the struggle of wanting to look good. Here are some of my must have beauty products and tips that will help you look like a beauty in no time:

·      Concealer: This is a must have when attempting to get ready after a late night up studying. Stress and lack of sleep can seriously affect your complexion. Take a little concealer and dab it on your problem spots (under your eyes, on newly formed breakouts, etc.). Then, even this out with your fingers or a brush. Ta-da! You’re looking better already.
o   I use: Covergirl Invisible Concealer in the shade Fair
·      Foundation: Apply a light amount of foundation over your face to brighten up and finish making your skin look a bit clearer. I also apply a finishing powder on top of this to help prevent my skin from getting too oily (my skin is naturally quite oily; I feel your pain).
o   I use: Covergirl Clean Oil Control foundation in the shade 505 (ivory) & the Covergirl Clean Oil Control pressed powder in 510 (Classic Ivory)
·      Mascara: Nothing like a little mascara to make your eyes look wide awake in the morning! I first use an eyelash curler to prep my eyelashes. Then, I swipe on the mascara, and my eyes look instantly more awake.
o   I use: Covergirl Lashblast Fusion in Very Black
·      Eyeliner: Apply a slight line on the outer corner of your top lash line. I just recently started using this, and it makes my eyes appear more open. I typically use black liner. However, I recently found that an olive green color makes my eyes really pop! Look into trying something new with your make-up routine; it makes getting ready a lot more enjoyable.
o   I use: Covergirl Perfect Point Plus in 200 (Black Onyx) and Covergirl Exact Eyelights in 715 (Majestic Jade)
·      Lips: Throw on a bit of bright color on your lips to make them pop! (It also makes you look like you took longer to get ready when you really didn’t!)
o   I use: Maybelline New York Color Whisper in the shade 50 (Cherry on Top)
I hope this post will help you while you get ready for school! What is your everyday school look, and what are your must-have products? Tweet me your pictures and products to @Maggie_Dickman, or comment below.

Much love,

Back to School Style

Hello my lovely readers!

I have officially survived my first week of classes! AAHH! It’s been crazy. I have some great classes, and some that will really be a struggle. However, I am so excited to learn more in every class from my incredible professors. As I am writing this, I am also getting ready to go to a free movie night (Great Gatsby I might add). I cannot forget to mention how many fun activities are going on. I went to my first ever college football game last night (I only stayed for one quarter though; it was wayyy too hot).  Here is a little collage I made from this fun night (Go Bulldogs!):

With all of these crazy activities, it is hard to know what to wear. I went to a private high school with a uniform, so picking out an outfit for everyday was an all new experience for me. I will show you what I wore that expressed my personal style, and was super easy to pick out (after late night movie parties with my floor… if my parents ask I was studying!). Also, I am sorry about the terrible quality of these pictures; I will work on this for next time!

My most important tip for anyone heading back to school: KEEP IT COMFY! If it is as hot as it is in Iowa right now, stick to easy walking shoes and clothes that will not make you uncomfortable. Those wedges may be cute, but walking around all day in them is a no-no! Save them for the weekend; you will thank me later.

I hope this helped to give you ideas for what to wear BTS (back to school for those who don’t know what my abbreviations mean J). I would love to see any of your favorite BTS looks! Just tweet me: @Maggie_Dickman with any of your go-to back to school fashions! I would love to get some inspirations from you all. Also, you can go ahead and check out my links in the upper right hand corner. I will be posting things as often as I can on social media. Go ahead and follow if you would like to see more about my daily life and adventures.

Much love,
Maggie D. xx
