A Little Catching Up

Hello all my lovely readers,
I’m back! I know my New Year’s resolution was to try to post a blog every week, and I started off pretty well... then I lost track. Again. I feel so awful, but school has been keeping me so busy. IT’S CRAZY! So, I wanted to do a little update for you all to let you know what’s been going on in my life and why I have been so terrible at posting recently. I am home for spring break now and I’m hoping to get better at my posting in the weeks ahead!

My classes this semester have been incredible, but they have also been quite stressful. As an English and Magazine Journalism double major, it’s probably understood that my classes are quite writing intensive. For my English classes, I am taking a writing seminar and a literary study class. My writing seminar is incredible. I feel like my writing is developing and I’m finding myself as a writer. It has been such a wonderful class so far and I can’t wait to continue on with it. My literary study is fine. However, we have been reading some strange books which is less than enjoyable…

I am taking two journalism classes as well, a writing and reporting class and a visual communication class. For my writing and reporting, we are given weekly article topics and have to come up with a focus and do interviews every week. That is one of my most stressful classes, but I love it. I’m hoping it continues to get better. My visual communication class is great. We are doing photography right now, and it’s fun to get out and try to improve my photography skills. We have worked on color, typography, and other design theories. It’s been fun—I’m learning a lot!

I am also taking College Algebra, which has been super easy. I never minded math in high school, so it’s really not too bad at all.

Outside of class, I have been working on my writing skills with the magazine here on campus. I have been fortunate enough to blog for DrakeMag Online again this semester, and it’s been a great experience. I come up with topics each week and present them to my editor, and then put together outfits, photos, and polyvore sets to include with each post. It’s been such fun! (Here's a link to my DrakeMag blog!) I am also writing an article about sustainable fashion for our print version of Drake Magazine, which I was lucky to have been chosen for. There are only a few fashion writers on the whole campus, so I feel so blessed to have been chosen for this position.

I also have a job on campus and am working on figuring out how to study abroad as well. I am planning on studying abroad in London next spring, which I am so excited about. I haven’t been out of the US, so studying abroad is definitely on my list of things to accomplish. I am planning on taking courses at both London Southbank and the London College of Fashion, so I am hoping it all works out! I have done a bit of online shopping which I’m hoping to share with you all this next week in a haul post. Thanks for being patient and I hope to speak to you all again soon!

Much love,
Maggie D. xx

I actually would love to study abroad as well, I might do it for my second or third year in College (I'll be applying to Languages, Literature and Cultures this year :3 I'm planning to take a Major in English studies and a Minor in Asian Studies - I'm currently studding Chinese at our local Confucius and I'll try to keep it next year as well)

Anyway, I wish you all the best :3
Take care, have a nice day!*

    1. Yeah I would definitely recommend looking into studying abroad! There are so many programs and places to go, and I don't know when I will be able to travel for a half a year in another country after I graduate, so I plan on taking the opportunity! And your major sounds so interesting! Keep me updated if you decide anything!
